It has been a while since we've given you an update on our group: We Surround Them Bakersfield / The Bakersfield 9/12 Project, because Susan and I, along with members who are heading up our various focus groups: book club, local politics, etc., have been very busy behind the scenes and making a lot of progress! 

Hopefully by now everyone has heard of our upcoming events: The picnic/meeting on April 4th at Silver Creek Park, The Tax Day/TEA Party on April 15th, and the bus trip to the Ronald Reagan Library on May 3rd. Be sure to join us at as many events as possible - we are here not only so that we won't feel alone and surrounded anymore, but also to send a message to Washington, Sacramento, and Bakersfield that We The People are banding together and ready to stand up to politics as usual! We need unity and strength in numbers in everything we do! 

You know you were excited about this group leading up to the Viewing Party on March 13th - let's keep that motivation and momentum going! Remember - every day is 9/12 .......don't let apathy creep back in!!! 

I want to address the question that most members are asking: who are we and where are we going? I've asked those same questions to the statewide and national leaders of WeSurroundThemUSA, as well as the team of group leaders that we have organized here in Bakersfield, and I'm happy to say that we have some concrete answers for you. 

, Glenn Beck has challenged each of us to educate ourselves on The Constitution and our Founding Fathers. We must be able to speak intelligently to defend our positions when addressing our leaders, the media, liberals, Obama-worshippers, etc. So, to that end, please join the book club and get started with The 5,000 Year Leap. Many members have expressed concern that "just a book club" is not going to change the dangerous course our country has plotted. Although that is true, a group of informed and educated Americans can! The book club is only step one. 

is how we make our voices heard. We must be making progress at the same time we are educating ourselves because those in power have been rapidly advancing their causes for a long time. There is no time to waste. So how do we most effectively take this brand new organization, just a group of Americans who want to make a difference, and bypass the red tape of becoming a formal non-profit organization? The answer is found in the beauty of our group - we AREN'T a formal organization! As Glenn said, we are just a bunch of Americans sitting around our kitchen table, banding together with others who believe in the 9/12, and bringing as many friends, neighbors, and co-workers into the group as we possibly can. 

So, with that in mind, there are many, many organizations out there who are already supporting causes that uphold the 9/12. They have already gone through the red tape, done the fund-raising, printed the fliers, etc. and they are looking for people to support their causes. We have the strenth in numbers and solidarity of purpose to offer them. We have already joined forces with a couple of these groups: the TEA Party, who we will be supporting on April 15th at the downtown courthouse, and the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Assn (www.hjta.org) who will be joining us at the Ronald Reagan Library. Our members are already passing on info about other groups like GrassFire.org which is an excellent organization supporting smaller government and fewer taxes. 

At election time, we will call on our members to volunteer their time in support of candidates and propositions that uphold the 9/12. We all know that what is happening in this great nation is wrong - we feel it in our gut. The time to sit back and complain is long passed. We must unite and stand fast in our beliefs. 

When we send out an Action Alert - please do just that: take ACTION. Whether it is to make a phone call to Nancy Pelosi's office or send an email in support of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. I know you just worked all day, took the kids to soccer practice, and met with your CPA to get your taxes done. But before you sit down and pick up that remote control - just make one phone call to a politican, send one email to the main stream media, call one friend to tell them about the 9/12 Project. 

We can all do one thing each day to advance our cause. I guarantee you the opposition is working hard - we must work even harder! In the spirit of 9/12, Jill
